Zolemba had reached a point where its existing commerce platform no longer matched the way the business wanted to develop.
Platform costs were increasing, feature delivery was becoming slower, and the existing architecture made further customization more difficult. At the same time, Zolemba had a large amount of custom business logic, integrations, and B2B workflows built into the platform.
The biggest constraint was time. The migration had to be completed before the next platform license renewal, leaving the team around six months to move a live enterprise eCommerce environment to a new stack.
A traditional rebuild would have meant rewriting years of custom development. Instead, the project focused on preserving as much of Zolemba’s existing business logic as possible while moving it to a more flexible foundation.

One of the most important parts of the project was separating Zolemba’s custom business logic from the platform it had been built into.
Using AI-assisted code extraction through the AXON21 AI Delivery Platform, the team was able to migrate 95% of the custom code to the new stack instead of rebuilding it from scratch.
This significantly reduced the scope of the replatforming and made the six-month delivery timeline possible.
Once the existing business logic had been extracted, Zolemba needed a platform flexible enough to support its complex B2B requirements without forcing the team back into a rigid architecture.
After testing several platforms and infrastructure setups, Sylius was selected as the new eCommerce foundation.
Its Symfony-based architecture gave the development team the flexibility to integrate existing business logic, build custom functionality, and continue evolving the platform around Zolemba’s specific requirements.
The project also used the Sylius Plus module, called B2B Suite, which provided a foundation for the company’s B2B commerce model. Working directly with the Sylius team, AXON21 validated the solution for the project and extended it with functionality required by Zolemba, including:

The project ran from May to October 2025 and covered the full migration process:
functional requirements,
system architecture,
backend and frontend implementation,
MVP testing with Zolemba’s business units,
storefront redesign,
staged production migration and domain switchover.

AXON21 managed the commerce stack across application, infrastructure, architecture, and delivery, which helped keep decisions and implementation within one team throughout the project.
The migration gave Zolemba a more flexible commerce foundation while preserving most of the custom development built over previous years.
Key results include:
The new Sylius-based setup gives Zolemba more control over its commerce stack and a stronger foundation for further B2B development.
« The migration from Spryker to Sylius was seamless, on time, on budget, and our customers didn’t notice the change. Core teams reported everything running faster within a week.
New AI-powered features ship monthly. Our commerce stack is now driving the business forward.
We love being on Sylius. »
