Month of Sylius: March 🌷

March has been another exciting month for the Sylius ecosystem. From significant technical improvements to growing community engagement and impressive project launches, we’ve continued to make strides in our journey. Here’s a breakdown of March’s highlights.

Overall product updates ⚒️

This month, the spotlight was undeniably on the B2B Suite and Marketplace Suite – and not by accident. Both are currently being upgraded to Sylius 2.0, and we’re not just bumping versions. We’re taking this opportunity to rethink, refactor, and seriously improve them along the way.

B2B Suite 💼

As part of the 2.0 upgrade, we’ve revamped core B2B flows to better serve real-world business use cases:

  • Checkout for organization users now properly validates company data, ensures clean separation between customer and organization addresses, and provides clearer messaging throughout the process.
  • Address books have been refined, so team buyers can work with shared, organization-level addresses without friction.
  • Twig Hooks were added across key B2B templates (billing, registration, order creation, managing organizations) to make UI customization easier than ever.
  • We’ve also added Behat coverage for B2B scenarios and cleaned up configuration to streamline onboarding for new projects.

It’s a major step toward making B2B Suit more robust, secure, and developer-friendly – all while preparing it for the long life ahead in Sylius 2.0.

Marketplace Suite 🛍️

Marketplace Suite is also undergoing its 2.0 transformation – and it’s getting a serious upgrade in the process:

  • We’ve improved vendor-facing UIs for product listings, messages, profiles, and order management.
  • Rolled out Twig Hooks across nearly every view, giving developers full control over customization without overriding templates.
  • Fixed long-standing bugs, added proper validations, and cleaned up routing and workflows.
  • Introduced Symfony Workflow 3.0 support, improved pagination, and enabled full Behat testing to ensure reliability at scale.
  • Upgraded the API to API Platform 4, unlocking modern features and improved developer experience out of the box.

All of this is aimed at making Marketplace Suite a truly solid foundation for modern, scalable multi-vendor platforms.

Localization & accessibility 🌍

  • We added full Arabic translations and RTL (Right-to-Left) layout support in both Sylius 2.0 and 1.14, creating a smoother experience for MENA-based users.
  • This includes updated emails, form validation messages, UI strings, and layout fixes – consistency guaranteed.

Developer experience, and testing ⚙️

  • Our Behat suite is leaner and meaner – test setup logic has been decoupled, reducing the need for JS in many scenarios and significantly speeding up build times.
  • New helpers and cleaner context management make test configuration easier and more flexible across UI/API layers.

Plugin & bundle ecosystem 🔌

  • SyliusResourceBundle got a brand-new routing system, support for custom notifications, and route requirements – setting the stage for even more flexibility.
  • SyliusGridBundle fixed sorting issues and introduced the ability to pass vars to field types – nice boost for frontend customization.
  • PayPalPlugin fixed the security issue
  • PluginSkeleton was updated to improve reliability during checkout and fix compatibility issues.
  • ThemeBundle now supports PHP 8.4 with deprecation fixes already in place.

CI & infrastructure

  • We’ve migrated from npm to yarn in Docker setups across multiple branches.
  • Automated upmerge workflows were added to several repos to streamline version maintenance.
  • GitHub issue templates got a facelift for better clarity and guidance when reporting bugs or requesting features.

To sum it up, B2B and Marketplace are being future-proofed while the rest of the ecosystem is getting faster, more stable, and more developer-friendly. Sylius 2.0 isn’t just a version bump – it’s a full-on evolution.
