MolliePlugin gets official Sylius maintenance and v2 support

When we released Sylius 2.0, we knew it was more than just another version. It marked a new era in how ambitious commerce projects are built: more modern, more flexible, more future-ready.

But modern commerce also needs modern payments. That’s why we’re happy to announce that the Sylius/MolliePlugin is now one of the first plugins to fully support Sylius 2.0, and the Sylius Development Team officially maintains it.

This is a big step for merchants and the entire ecosystem.

What’s new?

We didn’t just make the plugin compatible. We restructured it, updated its dependencies, cleaned up legacy code, and invested in a foundation that will make the plugin sustainable and adaptable for years to come. This includes:

  • Full support for Sylius 2.0 and 1.14 LTS
  • Upgraded to PHP 8.1+
  • Preinstalled in Sylius Standard 1.x and 2.x for zero-setup integration
  • Reliable automated testing for consistent quality
  • Refactored for cleaner architecture and easier customization
  • Subscription payments: natively supported for recurring revenue models

All of this work follows a detailed, community-focused technical audit and is already live in the latest plugin releases.

Result of long-term partnership

Mollie has been a Strategic PSP Partner of Sylius for years. But in 2025, Sylius officially took over maintenance of the plugin from Mollie to accelerate innovation, ensure long-term stability, and integrate the plugin more deeply with our evolving core. This way:

  • Merchants get faster updates and a more reliable payment infrastructure
  • Agencies save time with a preconfigured, production-ready solution
  • Developers gain a cleaner, better-tested codebase with clearer extension points

Subscription-based payment model

Among Sylius-compatible gateways, MolliePlugin stands out with its native support for subscriptions. Whether you’re running subscription boxes, donation-based platforms, or SaaS products with billing cycles. This plugin gives you the tools to automate and manage payments smoothly. And it’s ready to go, right out of the box.

What’s next?

With a solid foundation in place, we’re looking forward to what’s next:

  • Ongoing maintenance and timely updates, keeping pace with both minor and major Sylius releases.
  • Support for Sylius 2.1 is just around the corner, stay tuned!

Wrapping up

This wouldn’t be possible without the trust and collaboration of both sides.

Special thanks to Mollie for confidently delegating responsibility for the plugin’s future and supporting the transition. Kudos to the Sylius Development Team for integrating the needs of both Mollie and the broader Sylius community into a unified, forward-looking solution. 👏

If you’re starting a new Sylius 2.0 project, the plugin comes pre-installed with Sylius Standard. For those upgrading from older versions, now is the perfect time to switch to this supported, modern payment integration.
