5 trends to keep your eye on in eCommerce industry
5 trends to keep your eye on in eCommerce industry

The world of eCommerce marketing trends seems to get bigger every year. The maze is getting stranger and it’s really hard to choose the best solutions for your type of e-business? I know what you mean so I’ve prepared 5 types of trends that will help you move your eCommerce to another level in 2019!

1. Ethical eCommerce is the new thing

Let’s be honest, you can never go wrong when you’re doing right. Nowadays, consumerism is widely criticized and that’s not going to change (fortunately). Your clients are probably still asking about more ecological solutions when it comes to packages. They ask how the product is made and sometimes even ask about the factory that produced the goods you are selling. People are more and more interested in the ethical side of the buying process and it’s a shame for you if you’re not.

Make sure if your product was made ethically, concentrate on the materials used to pack your products, know your providers. It may seem irrelevant, but in the eyes of your customers, it’s becoming a priority.

2. Social Selling is still hot

This term is well known in the eCommerce industry for about 3 years now, but it’s still one of the most important trends in 2019. What exactly is social selling? Let’s bring the old, good wikipedia definition: „Social selling is the process of developing relationships as part of the sales process. Today this often takes place via social networks (…).”

Social Media are here to stay and give so many great possibilities to effectively sell your product! No matter if you’re using Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn – it’s always a good idea. You’ll be sure you’re reaching your dream target group and your customers will have amazingly simple access to all of your products. Moreover, we cannot forget about the „Social” part of that trend. You’ll gain a unique opportunity to maintain long-term relationships with your clients and potential buyers. Awesome, isn’t it?

3. AI is here to save us

It’s no secret that eCommerce merchants with the best product information always get the client. But, we all know it, it can be really hard to create quality content if the number of your SKUs is even 8 times bigger than 10 years before. Videos, photos, descriptions – it all takes time and nobody has it.

AI solutions come to your aid. They will automate the creation, optimization, translation and syndication of product content. Thanks to „robots” your work will be easier and you’ll reach your goals more agile. I truly recommend you to keep an eye on all the AI news in eCommerce branch.

4. Apps and all

The convenience is the key. As we may know from the new Visual Objects report, people prefer to use shopping apps while at home (79%) instead of on the go or in the store. The data comes from the US but we can be sure this trend will soon come to Europe and it’s better to be prepared.

We love shopping in peace and we hate crowds in the mall. The secret lies in using that knowledge and letting your customers make decisions on their own. Even small eCommerce businesses can find their place in this trend. The barriers to getting into the mobile apps world have never been lower – everything is in your hands.

5. Be all ears

Everyone knows that Voice Search is connecting customers with retailers more than anything else. Gartner predicts that by 2020, 30% of web browsing sessions will be done without a screen, (source: Top Strategic Predictions for 2017 and Beyond: Surviving the Storm Winds of Digital Disruption, Oct. 2016). What does it mean?

The Voice Search is here to stay. 46% of retailers already devote more than 20% of their company resources to mobile development (source: Voice grows louder: Retailers prepare for the rise of voice search in mobile commerce) and you probably should do it too. The voice search engine is creating lots of options for mobile applications to improve user experience and connect the users well with the mobile app. And we already know the convenience is crucial.

Conclusion

As you may have noticed, there’s a lot to do. But also, a lot of fun ahead of us. You probably won’t find one universal tool to prepare your business for all those work, but remember that well configured Sylius is here to help with everything. Communicate well with your clients, be interested in new technologies and simply stay hungry for all that’s new. Be careful and make sure you distinguish trends and fads!
