“Getting Started with Sylius” Tutorial Now Available
A tutorial for developers. We want to give you a taste of a typical Sylius project.

Hello, our fellow eCommerce developers!

Sylius already has a quite extensive documentation with The Book, Customization Guide, Cookbook, REST API Reference and various guides for BDD and contributing. That being said, none of these were really entry-level docs for someone who wants to get a taste of Sylius quickly.

Mateusz, one of our amazing engineers and trainers, comes to the rescue. Thank you! We are happy to present you the “Getting Started with Sylius” tutorial, available completely free.

What’s inside?

The new tutorial will guide you through the basic installation via Composer and the minimal shop configuration. You will be able to set up a sales channel, configure shipping and payment methods and of course, add your first product.

It’s a tutorial for developers, so we want to give you a taste of a typical Sylius project. So, one of the steps is customizing the templates and business logic related to shipping price calculation.

Finally, we try to show how you can extend Sylius with a plugin and deploy the customized app to Platform.sh. The tutorial should take from one to a few hours depending on your Symfony know-how and illustrate a simplified workflow from installation to an online project.

We value your feedback! Suggest improvements by opening an issue or contribute a Pull Request directly from GitHub. (Find the right file and click the edit button)

Sylius Documentation Hackday

As a part of our continuous effort to improve Sylius documentation, we are organizing the first Sylius Documentation Hackday! Join us on the 5th of October for a full Saturday of hacking on the docs. We will do a live stream from our office in Łódź and prepare a kanban board full of tasks that will help thousands of developers using Sylius. What is more, we will have some small gifts for all contributors on that day!

We will be sharing more information closer to the event but make sure to save the date already!

Get Trained

If you have an ambitious project in front of you or would like to make Sylius your eCommerce platform of choice for the coming years, you might find our “Getting Started with Sylius” training program interesting.

It’s an intensive, hands-on 3-day training with the creators of Sylius that will get you up-to-speed even faster than the tutorial. You also get a chance to spend some time with one of Sylius’ core team members, that would answer the questions and dispel your doubts. If you think this might be the way to go for you and your team, please get in touch with us.

Try Sylius Now!

You can find the tutorial available in our official documentation hosted at docs.sylius.com. The tutorial is now clearly visible on the top. Of course, you can also find your own way into the Sylius world by downloading it yourself, using your preferred method. (Composer/Vagrant/Docker)

Join us at the 3rd Sylius Hackathon powered by Brille24
