Phantasialand – adventurous theme park on Sylius
Move:elevator, our Professional Solution Partner, created new online store for Phantasialand - an adventurous theme park that offers visitors an immersive and mystical world to explore. The main goal of this project was to create a new online store that conveys the magical feeling of this place through a digital experience. As a basis for it, move:elevator chose the flexible, headless Sylius eCommerce platform that offers almost limitless customization, much needed in delivering original digital experiences.

About the company

Phantasialand is a theme park and hotel resort located in Brühl, Germany. It is renowned for its immersive worlds, which attract people from all over the world. It offers six themed areas, three themed hotels, a Fantissima dinner show, and much more. Each area is meticulously designed, offering guests unforgettable experiences and making it a must-visit destination for families, thrill-seekers, and theme park enthusiasts alike.

Aim of the project

The old OXID eShop solution used for the previous Phantasialand’s online store was not scalable and did not offer the optimal conditions for the new digital strategy.

Therefore, the main goal of the project was to create an online store that perfectly reflects the magical and adventurous nature of Phantasialand, allowing customers to immerse themselves in the world of Phantasialand starting from the booking stage. 

Move:elevator aimed to create a unique and magical experience for the Phantasialand’s guests from the moment they purchase their tickets or vouchers. To achieve this, the agency had to create a visually appealing design that embodies the essence of Phantasialand and engages users through animations and video clips, while keeping it user-friendly and intuitive.  

Why Sylius?

Although Phantasialand only sells four products (tickets) via the store, they vary in terms of prices & specials per day, wine options for gala evenings, and individual voucher values. Also, as the booking system is highly complex, the orders have to be processed in several different background systems.

Move:elevator chose Sylius for the project due to its standardization, clear architecture, and high flexibility – offering the perfect balance between standard eCommerce functionalities and flexibility/customization options.  

Technical architecture overview

The move:elevator agency supported Phantasialand throughout the entire process, from workshops, user research, user experience design, implementation, testing, reporting, performance, SEO, and the development of the Customer Data Platform.

During this cooperation, the following systems have been implemented:

  • Saferpay and Amazon Pay for the payment options
  • Ticket and voucher systems for the automatic processing of orders via move:elevator’s Customer Data Platform
  • Fulfillment system for the dispatch of physical orders
  • Microsoft Power BI for reporting
  • CleverReach for e-mail marketing

Results

Move:elevator developed the Phantasialand online store in just five months. The new website is customer-centric, allowing customers to immerse themselves in the magical world of Phantasialand during the booking process.

The customers can easily navigate the website, make purchases, and access all the information about their bookings while all the complex data is processed in the background. The Customer Data Platform (CDP) provides the basis for further digitalization, and the future use of data in combination with marketing automation offers particularly great potential. The new website provides all the advantages of a user-friendly, scalable, and flexible eCommerce platform.
