Sylius 2.0 stable release out

Over 7 years after the first major release, on Nov 12, 2024, we have released Sylius 2.0.0. It’s undoubtedly a big step forward for the Sylius and its community. What’s more, it turned out that the 2.0 performance is doing quite well, even with a mediocre demo server, in a server-rendered, Twig-driven (no-headless) environment. We will surely evaluate more places we could improve, especially on mobile. 📱

Additionally, last Friday, we hosted a webinar where Michał Pysiak and Przemysław Połeć went through the biggest updates in years! The recording is available on YouTube channel. 🎬

What have we added in 2.0.0?

  • New Bootstrap Admin Panel
  • New Bootstrap Shop Interface
  • API Platform 4: Elevating Sylius API Capabilities
  • Payment Request

       … and more!

Announced project victories 🏆

Let’s look at a recent successfully delivered projects showcasing Sylius’s capabilities in powering modern eCommerce platforms.

Clever Age successfully migrated Bordeaux Airport’s online platform to Sylius

Bordeaux Airport partnered with Clever Age to migrate their online store to the Sylius platform, serving a user base of 100,000 customers. The project focused on creating an integrated ecosystem connecting physical products with various airport services. The new platform effectively manages multiple service offerings, including parking reservations and fast-track access, while maintaining high performance and user experience standards.

The implementation features comprehensive integration with the airport’s existing business systems, including CRM, SAP, and Yield management tools. Clever Age successfully integrated external CMS through Elasticsearch and implemented connections with various third-party services such as Brevo and Axepta payment systems. Also, the platform’s architecture ensures smooth transaction processing between physical products and third-party services.

A key advantage of this implementation is its cost-effectiveness, as it utilizes Sylius Community Edition (CE), eliminating recurring licensing fees while maintaining enterprise-level functionality. The clean, efficient design demonstrates that sophisticated eCommerce solutions can be achieved without substantial ongoing platform costs.

OfficeNext.nl powered by Sylius Plus modules – by Originem.io

OfficeNext.nl, launched by Originem.io, showcases the power of Sylius Plus in creating a flexible and robust eCommerce platform. The project highlights an integrated experience for users while maintaining high performance and scalability.

The implementation leverages several community-driven extensions, including the SyliusAkeneoPlugin (Webgriffe), Google Tag Manager plugin (StefanDoorn), Tierprice Plugin (Brille24), and Mollie for payments, allowing for seamless functionality across product and checkout workflows. This project serves as a perfect example of how Sylius Plus can empower businesses to deliver enterprise-grade solutions tailored to their needs while benefiting from the vibrant Sylius community.

Blabloom.com delivers a multi-integrated platform with Sylius Core

Inventis successfully launched Blabloom.com, an advanced eCommerce platform built on Sylius Core, showcasing Sylius’s flexibility in integrating complex features. The platform delivers a seamless customer experience while efficiently managing operations across various systems.

The project features integrations with a custom CMS for managing content pages, a POS application (PWA) running on the Sylius API, and Monta WMS for optimized shipment handling. Additionally, Elasticsearch powers advanced product search and filtering, while support for multiple inventory locations ensures smooth order management.

Past events 🔙

Now, let’s browse November’s events, where Sylius was present, to summarize what has happened in the community.

Sylius x Symfony Meetup

On November 28 at the amphitheater at Thecamp in Aix-en-Provence, our French partner ACSEO organized a meetup that drew an impressive crowd of over 60 attendees, bringing together the French Symfony and Sylius communities just two weeks after SyliusCon. Sabrine Ferchichi and Nicolas Potier from ACSEO presented the latest features of Sylius 2.0 and explored AI-enhanced eCommerce solutions. The evening was further led by Guillaume Loulier from SensioLabs, who delivered an outstanding presentation on Meilisearch, expanding on the popular topic from SyliusCon.

B2B Congress

What’s more, on November 19, we visited Poland’s capital and participated in the B2B eCommerce Congress, where Przemysław Połeć along with Radosław Żurawski and Jacob Leśniewski represented Sylius. At the event, Radek and Przemysław delivered an insightful presentation addressing a crucial question in B2B e-commerce: whether to build custom solutions or leverage existing platforms. Drawing from our experience, we demonstrated how Sylius offers the best of both worlds – combining the flexibility of custom solutions with the advantages of an established platform and active community support, ultimately accelerating implementation and reducing long-term maintenance costs.

The engaging discussions that followed the presentation and the number of attendees’ questions reinforced this topic’s importance in the B2B space. See you next time!

Tech for Retail 2024

Our partner, DECADE, promoted Sylius at Tech for Retail 2024 on November 26-27, where they showcased an impressive case study of services-based eCommerce implementation. During the conference session on November 27, Hélène PAUL and Michael Alimi presented Intersport Rent’s successful online ski rental platform. This talk explained how implementing Sylius significantly improved operations for Intersport’s affiliated stores, serving as a great example of DECADE’s expertise in implementing service-based eCommerce solutions. 👏

PHPUGMRN & Sylius Germany Community Meetup

Just a few days ago, Sylius and bitExpert AG joined forces on December 12th in Mannheim to host a combined PHPUGMRN & Sylius Germany Community Meetup. The event kicked off with an invaluable workshop on “Migration to Sylius 2.0” led by Commerce Weavers’ Co-founder, Łukasz Chruściel. The evening’s program featured a series of insightful presentations, beginning at 19:00, with Stéphane Decock sharing his experience with Sylius implementations. This was followed by Boas Falke‘s presentation on the SCHUFA Plugin for fraud detection, and Łukasz Chruściel wrapped up the talks with a discussion on background processing in Sylius.

The meetup provided great networking opportunities between sessions, allowing developers to connect, share experiences, and enjoy drinks in a casual atmosphere. 🍻
