Welcome to our first monthly summary of 2025! As we kick off the new year, January has been marked by renewed energy and focused development efforts from our team. The momentum from last year has carried forward, setting a productive tone for 2025. Here’s a breakdown of this month’s highlights.
This month, our dev efforts revolved around bringing Sylius Plus and our plugins into the 2.0 era. It’s like moving into a shiny new apartment – exciting, but also a lot of heavy lifting. 💪
On the Plus side, we’ve been working on updating Marketplace Suite, RBAC, Loyalty, and Returns to fit seamlessly into Sylius 2.0. Along the way, we fine-tuned service aliases, API coverage, and UI details to ensure a smooth experience.
For our open-source plugins, PayPal, Refunds and Invoicing have been adjusted to align with the latest core changes. We also tackled some UI improvements, optimized Twig hooks, and streamlined configurations to make customization easier.
Meanwhile, core Sylius 2.0 itself saw bug fixes, UI refinements (fullscreen order tables, cleaner product grids, improved taxon displays), and even some JS linting magic in CI. Docs are also making their move to GitBook, keeping everything fresh and organized.
In short, it’s all about bringing everything up to version 2.0 while making life easier for developers and merchants. Until next month – onward and upward! 🚀💜
The new year started with two exciting projects showcasing Sylius’s versatility across different business sectors.
Triotech has delivered an impressive Sylius-based solution for Makla Distribution France, a prominent European tobacco distributor since 1979. The new platform transforms their sales and delivery processes for tobacco shops through a multi-device application.
At the heart of the platform are two specialized interfaces. Managers get a comprehensive view of their business through a dashboard that tracks sales in real-time, monitors customer interactions, and visualizes orders. On the field side, sales representatives can easily plan their customer visits, compare year-over-year performance, and process orders with digital signatures.
The platform shines in how it caters to each user’s daily needs. Managers can easily distribute territories among their sales team, update product catalogs, and track promotional materials. Sales representatives have everything they need at their fingertips – from detailed customer information to personalized product catalogs and sales data.
The Bollinger Group, a prestigious family-owned and independent group of premium champagne, wine and spirits houses since 1829, transformed their B2B operations with a Sylius-powered extranet portal developed by our Professional Solution Partner, Cyllene.
The platform enables import agents to access product catalogs, manage orders based on allocations, and track trade forecasts, all through a single sign-on system. What makes this implementation special is its seamless integration with existing ERP systems and comprehensive handling of complex business processes. The platform has delivered impressive results, with 80-90% of orders now flowing through the portal, significantly reducing administrative overhead for both Bollinger’s team and their customers.
Sylius is full of free, community-created plugins. Most of the stable ones are published in our store – so far, we’ve added 500 of them. But that’s just half – there are 1,115 in total!
The other half, while not yet officially approved, contains lots of useful code that often handles very complex business logic. In most cases, taking over and developing such a plugin would be a better idea than implementing everything from scratch. From our experience, we know this isn’t always developers’ first thought when starting a new feature.
Moreover, each of these plugins has potential for further development – they can be expanded, customized to your needs, and improved. These are living projects that can evolve along with your business requirements.
Check out our complete plugin list on this spreadsheet. Whether you’re looking to use, improve, or maintain a plugin, your contribution can make a real difference to the Sylius ecosystem. 💪
The new Sylius Academy, created by our Key Contributor Gracjan Józefczyk, draws from his decade-long journey from Symfony developer to Sylius expert. After discovering Sylius and recognizing its potential, Gracjan transitioned from pure development to providing consulting and training services across numerous ambitious projects. This wealth of experience shaped the Academy’s comprehensive curriculum, which covers everything from basic development to business aspects, UI considerations, and architectural design principles.
The Academy welcomes learners at all levels, with detailed information available on the course website.
On January 30, we gathered at Tpay‘s office in Poznań for an evening packed with eCommerce discussions and tech insights. Przemysław Połeć kicked things off by sharing Sylius’s unique approach to eCommerce and gave us a peek into what’s coming up in the next few quarters. Tymoteusz Stengert from Commerce Weavers walked us through the story behind the Tpay-Sylius plugin and presented their new ticketing engine, Eliot. Rounding out the presentations, Karol Bojski described how cyberFolks tackles software development.
The highlight of the evening was a dynamic panel discussion led by Jessica Karlińska and Klaudia Krajewska, where everyone jumped in with questions and shared their own experiences. It was great to see the mix of technical chat, practical problem-solving, and community networking. See you next time! 👋
