Implementing the Sylius Addons Marketplace

In recent years, the Sylius ecosystem has grown significantly, with more community plugins, more Sylius Plus modules, new online courses, more partners, and vendors.

The previous marketplace, Sylius Store, was created many years ago, when the Sylius ecosystem operated on a much smaller scale. As the framework evolved, the number of extensions increased, and interest in the platform grew, the original solution no longer matched the current scale of the ecosystem.

As a result, many valuable extensions became difficult to discover, and resources remained fragmented across GitHub repositories, documentation, online courses, and the certification process.

At the same time, community members highlighted the need for a clearer model that would encourage plugin creation and improve discoverability. Without a central place to present extensions, many community plugins remained underutilized, slowing down the feedback loop between creators and users.

The Role of Sylius Addons in the Ecosystem

Sylius Addons is the official, centralized place for the entire Sylius ecosystem. The platform brings together community plugins, Sylius Plus modules, online courses, and certification within one structured environment. It is worth noting that the Sylius Addons Marketplace was built on the Marketplace Suite module, demonstrating the capabilities of our Plus solution.

It is one place to discover, publish, and manage extensions in a consistent and technically organized way.

Vendor Ownership and Extension Management

The new platform introduces a well-defined model for vendor management.

Each vendor has a dedicated account that enables them to manage their own plugins directly on the website. This includes editing descriptions, visuals, documentation, and compatibility information.

Responsibility for maintaining up-to-date information and ensuring compatibility with subsequent platform versions remains with the extension owner. This model decentralizes maintenance while ensuring a consistent standard across the entire ecosystem.

In addition, the introduction of reviews and ratings reinforces this responsibility. Transparent feedback encourages vendors to actively maintain and improve their plugins, as long-term visibility and trust within the marketplace are directly linked to quality and ongoing support.

Designed for Developers, Vendors, and Merchants

The marketplace connects those who build extensions with those who install and use them.

Plugin creators, developers, and software houses

The platform is the official space for presenting solutions related to Sylius. Each plugin clearly identifies its author, enables a structured presentation of the solution, and allows direct contact. It is a way to build visibility, recognition, and establish collaboration.

Merchants and businesses

The marketplace enables quick discovery of extensions that address specific business needs, from payments and integrations to logistics plugins. Each solution clearly identifies the responsible vendor, making it easier to reach out for support, development, or further collaboration.

A Structured Model for Extension Distribution

Sylius Addons introduces an organized model for publishing and maintaining extensions across the entire ecosystem. This includes clear ownership assignment, a consistent presentation standard, and up-to-date compatibility information with current Sylius versions.

It also changes the distribution model, moving from fragmented sources to a single official channel that provides greater predictability in terms of maintenance, updates, and availability of extensions.

For developers and businesses, this means a more organized working environment where it is easier to assess solution quality, version alignment, and responsibility for its ongoing development.

What’s Next?

The official launch of the Sylius Addons Marketplace will take place on March 23 on our YouTube channel, where Przemysław Połeć and Magdalena Sadowska will present the entire marketplace.
