Sometimes, you just know it’s time for a big change. For MotoByCAT, that moment came when their old website started to feel more like a roadblock than a tool for growth. It wasn’t responsive, updating it was a hassle, and the whole experience just didn’t reflect their 10+ years of expertise in two-wheeler transport.
The mission was clear: build something that would not only modernize their digital presence but also show customers that their motorcycles were in the best hands.
MotoByCat is a company specializing in the transportation of motorcycles, scooters, and two- and three-wheeled vehicles across France, Corsica, and Belgium. As part of CAT Group – a European leader in transport and logistics – MotoByCat benefits from the group’s 60+ years of expertise in managing vehicle and automotive component flows. Founded in 1957, CAT Group operates in 27 countries, offering comprehensive logistics services for new and used vehicles, as well as automotive parts, accessories, and motorcycles.
The website of MotoByCat, dedicated to two-wheeler transport in France for both professionals and individuals, had become obsolete and no longer reflected its market leadership position. It was aging and had been developed using outdated technology that made updates difficult. The UX and structure lacked modernity, and the checkout funnel needed to be redesigned to improve conversion rates. Additionally, the site wasn’t responsive, necessitating both a graphic and technological overhaul. MotoByCat partnered with Synolia, our Leading Solution Partner, for this transformation.
The project’s main goal was improving customer experience, which was the main focus of this platform redesign. As Gaëlle Gachet, PO web and innovation, states:
„When someone wants to transport their two-wheeler somewhere in France, we want them to think of us! Through this new site, we wanted customers to understand they can trust us. They care about their motorcycles, and so do we. Our expertise in the field has been proven over 10 years of existence.„
MotByCAT’s needs differed from those of a classic eCommerce: no catalog, no product pages, no traditional 5-step purchase journey. Instead, the focus was on customer experience: everything needed to center around choosing departure and arrival points for vehicle transport, similar to travel booking sites – a service that can be provided with minimal clicks. The choice of Sylius was an obvious one – MotByCAT needed a flexible solution that could fully meet their requirements, and Sylius fit the bill perfectly.
The technical solution centered on developing a custom booking system that prioritized user experience, featuring an interactive map interface and real-time pricing updates. The backend architecture was optimized through custom entity creation for motorcycles, relay points, and transport bases, seamlessly integrated with CAT’s existing information system. The platform incorporated multilingual support, PayPlug integration for payments, dynamic tax calculations, and sophisticated holiday management systems to facilitate international operations and let customers know when the service will be unavailable.
Through Sylius and Synolia, MotoByCAT implemented a high-performing platform that effectively meets its clients‘ needs. As part of a global optimization of the brand’s offering, the portal redesign helped MotoByCat revitalize its activity and promote its offering while providing a quality customer experience.
The project’s success is reflected in a sales increase of over 60% between September 2020 and September 2021. As Florent Delahaye, key account manager at MotoByCat, notes:
„Given that most of our turnover is achieved between April and September, and the new site went live in April, we can easily attribute this increase to it.„
